Cane Toads are not a subject I know a lot about and nor was it, up until a recent unfortunate and rather traumatic encounter (more about that later), a subject I was interested in knowing more about.
Like many of you my limited knowledge of Cane Toads is limited to the following few nasty facts:
1. they are gross
2. they can grow to size of a small Warthog.
3. they can squirt or spit or excrete poison that looks like a puss from glands on the side of their head.
4. some people boil them and drink the juice as some sort of drug.
5. they were introduced into Queensland to eat some sort of sugar cane bug or beetle.
6. they chose to ignor said bug/beetle and chose instead to start breeding at a rapid rate of knots.
7. once their numbers were sufficiently up they set about conquering the rest of Australia.
8. they have no know enemies........and yet no one really likes them either.
9. they are afraid of nothing.
10. nothing can kill them.
Fact or fiction? Well as far as I'm concerned these could quite possibly be facts but then again on the other hand they could also quite possibly be fiction. Because I just don't know for sure and because I became interested after that recent unfortunate and rather traumatic encounter (more about that later) I've decided to use my Learning 2.0 blog to take a warts and all look at the subject of Cane Toads.
After all they do say "know thy enemy".
